Billy Batson - A New Adventure Fan Fics

What to write.

There doesn't seem to be much interest in Billy Batson as Captain Marvel out there since the poor reception of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which I thought was a pretty good movie. Disclaimer: I'm no fan of the New 52 take on Billy which the movie follows. That said, I want more original Captain Marvel fan fics and was wondering whether there's any one out there who'd still be interested in reading these.

So I did this poll.

I've got a few story arcs I'd like to explore. In between writing my own books, I have time to do just one series/story and asked you guys on AO3 and Tumblr.

From the poll on my Tumblr blog, World of Stories and Dreams (yeah, I know it's a mouthful), an idea reveal where Captain Marvel is really a tiny little boy is the most popular storyline. Delightfulwhispersgalaxy suggested combining the story ideas.

I like that!

The identity reveal would go very well with A villian captures Billy and is humiliated because no one believes that is Cap. I want to thank everyone for your suggestions on AO3 and Tumblr and for taking the time to vote!

Here's the first chapter of my new Billy Batson Fan Fic series - Super Reporters. I'm posting it on my blog first. I'll put it up on AO3 when I've written more chapters and decided how I want to organise it.

Comics Canon:

In Shazam Power of Hope, you'd see a day in the life of Billy Batson. This is the Billy I want to write. His pure character - his selflessness. That's something so lacking in modern day Shazam. Here he brings hope to children in the hospital in spite of his busy schedule.

Comics Canon:

In Power of Hope, Billy juggles being Captain Marvel, a radio job and school with barely any time for himself. He's perpetually exhausted yet he doesn't hesitate to spend his entire weekend cheering up kids at the hospital.

Comics Canon:

In Justice by Alex Ross, Captain Marvel is not on the main roster of the Justice League, but when the League's down, he's the backup that's called in.

Comics Canon:

In Justice, Captain Marvel is responsible and heroic. He has a very strong sense of responsibility and carries himself well. He exudes power. Golden age Captain Marvel has unlimited strength, unlimited speed and the keenest mind in the universe. That's what I'd like to see in my fanfic, though that's going to be really tough to write.

Comics Canon:

Whiz Radio is a huge part of Billy Batson's life. He's their star reporter in spite of his young age. Celebrity, holding on a job to support himself, playing the role of an adult and a school going kid at the same time, together with his responsibilities as a hero, leads to his maturity way beyond his age.

Comics Canon:

Thanks to a freak accident, Professor Martin Stein fuses with his student Ronnie Raymond to become Firestorm. As the Professor was unconscious when the accident happened, Ronnie Raymond is in control when they are merged to form Firestorm.
